Pink revealed that she tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In an Instagram post, the American singer-songwriter shared that she and her three-year old son, Jameson, were showing symptoms of the disease two weeks ago.
They have since recovered, and have tested negative after resting and recuperating at home.
However, Pink couldn't help but call out the U.S. government for not making the tests more widely accessible.
"It is an absolute travesty and failure of our government to not make testing more widely accessible," the singer said. "This illness is serious and real. People need to know that the illness affects the young and old, healthy and unhealthy, rich and poor, and we must make testing free and more widely accessible to protect our children, our families, our friends and our communities."
Because of this, the 40-year-old performer decided to donate $500,000 to the Temple University Hospital Emergency Fund in Philadelphia where her mother worked for 18 years, and another $500,000 to the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Emergency COVID-19 Crisis Fund.
She also expressed gratitude for health workers and frontliners around the world.
"THANK YOU to all of our healthcare professionals and everyone in the world who are working so hard to protect our loved ones. You are our heroes!" she said.
Over 1,000,036 cases have been confirmed with COVID-19 globally while a total of 51,718 people have died due to the disease.
The Philippines has so far recorded 3,094 confirmed cases, 144 deaths, and 57 recoveries.
