Lola selling walis tambo gets aid after story airs on '24 Oras'

A 68-year-old woman who sells walis tambo has received aid after her story aired on "24 Oras" on Thursday.

In Maki Pulido's report for the newscast, Florinda Cruz was among the residents of Rodriguez, Rizal who lined up for financial assistance outside the municipal hall.

She said she has no more money to buy food and medicine for her two grandchildren, one of whom was ill.
On Friday, Lola Florinda brightened up when Pulido handed her an envelope with cash donations from kind strangers who heard about her story.
"Salamat po, biyaya," she said. "Pambili ko ng gamot, pagkain namin, pangbili ng ulam."

Lola Florinda was among hundreds of residents at a housing project in Barangay San Isidro who did not receive aid from the Social Amelioration Program (SAP).
According to the president of the homeowners' association, they submitted a list of those who did not receive aid to the local government.

However, Lola Florinda was not included because she was not a resident of the barangay and was only renting a place in the area. —MGP, GMA News
